Also, FADE is getting his video together and it should be up on the site within the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned, we're adding more content every day!
Thursday night was a crazy night. After a few drinks dorkiz climbed on a 6 foot plus guy's shoulders and gave a speech welcoming everyone to QuakeCon. At one point, they made it into the VIP area and gave them a nice welcome as well. Ah, good times!
Since its humble beginnings in 1996, gamers have flocked to QuakeCon from all parts of the world to experince all of its wonder. QuakeCon 2008 was no exception with attendance reaching to over 4000 attendees.
QuakeCon boasts the largest LAN capacity in the United States referred to as the BYOC, or bring your own computer. This year, the BYOC topped out at 3000 seats with all but a few rows filling up by Friday afternoon. Even if you travel alone to QuakeCon, you can always find people to play with no matter which game you choose. The most popular games we saw played in the BYOC this year were QuakeLive, Quake 4, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and Call of Duty 4.
The QuakeCon girls this year were from Charisma+2, a gamer only modeling agency located in Dallas, TX.
Our very own dorkiz got the chance to hang out with these girls and had a great time doing so!
Ventrillo and QuakeCon gave away a 2008 Corvette coupe in the Ventrillo Ultimate Power Up contest. Basically, anyone over 18 and a U.S. citizen was eligible to win. There were only 250 tickets given away.
Pariticipants in the Alienware QuickDraw events as well as "What would you do..." participants were awarded a ticket. Enough tickets were not given away during the event and the last 90 or so tickets were given away in t-shirts at the awards ceremony / final party Saturday night. Our very own bens_bubble (Holly) shaved her head to get one of these tickets. Unfortunately, she did not win the car. She did however get a free haircut!
The winner of the Corvette was this guy from Nacogdoches, TX. We're still trying to find his name online...sorry!
Events this year included the return of the QuickDraw competitions, this year sponsored by Alienware, as well as the Bawls chugging contest, "What would you do..." and many others. Please check out the Events page for updates the next couple of weeks.

Here's another flashback from QuakeCon 2006. This footage includes casual interviews with professional gamers from clan G.O.D. (Girls of Destruction), as well as a member of Fatal1ty group, Lost_Cause, dorkiz, and some other cool peeps. Good stuff!
Here's a video flashback from Sunday of QuakeCon 2006. Saturday night was a very wild night and we didn't get to bed very early. Apparantly, our machines were quarantined.
QuakeCon 2008 is only 3 days away! I'm sure everyone by now is making their final preparations to attend the greatest gaming event in the United States!
The myQuakeCon team is ready to bring you great coverage this year. Expect to see tons of photos and video on the site this year as well as gamer interviews and event coverage.
New content will be added daily next week so be sure to check back on the site for more information!
